SHOCKY SAYS GOODBYE TO HIS 1.6L AND 020

There really isn't much to say here....nothing terrible happened during the engine removal phase and Shocky was sufficiently sedated throughout the process:

Shocky was heavily anesthetised for the procedure

I am not sure if Dan had something against Shocky's exhaust or what, but that was the first thing to go.

Later I got to have a hand at using an oxyacetelene torch to cut up the exhaust so it could be thrown away.

And then we emptied the engine bay......

And the brake booster was most uncooperative:

I have come to the conclusion that brake fluid, antifreeze, oil, and gasoline have formed an alliance against me....

Well, it was a long fight, but in the end I was victorious!

And finally, the engine bay was empty....(gotta love that beautiful seam sealer stuff that Bug Aid applied so it wouldn't rust)

I didn't get any pics of it, but we took some stuff out of the interior as well....including the carpet...and no, I don't vacuum the interior of my car, and yes....I realize that is bad...and no, I probably won't be changing anytime soon!

And so that was that.  Finally, the engine swap could begin!!
